Smart Policies for Tapping a Big Potential

With an unemployment rate of more than 9%, there is a strong need for immediate job creation and a sound economic recovery in the US. One of the sectors with the strongest potential for new jobs is the clean energy sector. The production, installation and maintenance of solar, wind and biomass power, and the generation and distribution of renewable energy power have the potential to create 5 million well-paying jobs by 2020.
However, the clean energy economy is a global race with other countries currently ahead. This session will discuss how smart policies and private investments can build-up a clean energy economy and jumpstart this job creation in the US immediately: What actions have countries like Germany and China taken towards clean energies? What incentives are needed to attract private domestic and foreign investment in this growing sector? How can the US make sure to build up a competitive industry? The following speakers will address these questions to highlight how the US can tap its true job potential in the clean energy economy:
