Rebecca Bertram joined the Heinrich Böll Foundation North America office in September 2011. She is responsible for the Foundation’s Climate Network Program, which fosters transatlantic dialogue in support of a low carbon economy agenda. The regional focus of her work in the United States includes Colorado and California as well as the rural areas in the Midwest. Her particular interest revolves around the question of adequate workforce development in a green economy.
Prior to joining the Foundation, Rebecca spent three years within the German government. She spent a year working on global energy security and governance issues with the Policy Planning Unit of the Foreign Ministry, and two years with the Ministry of Environment where she worked on European and transatlantic renewable energy issues.
Rebecca holds a Masters degree in International Affairs and Economics from the Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and a joint Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Kent and the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris (Sciences Po).
