The Heinrich Böll Foundation
- is an agency for green visions and projects, a think tank for policy reforms, and an international network
- is closely affiliated with Bündnis 90/Die Grünen (the German Green Party)
- promotes the development of a democratic civil society at home and abroad
- stands up for equal rights and equal opportunities for all people, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, or nationality
- supports cultural projects as part of our civic education activities
- assists gifted, socially and politically active students and graduates in Germany and abroad
- cooperates with 16 state foundations in all German federal states
- is financed almost exclusively through public funds (currently around 43 million euros annually)
