Security in the Euro-Atlantic Space

For half a century, security in the Euro-Atlantic space was based on confidence-building measures between NATO and Russia, and the assumption that China would not represent a significant security challenge. This approach has come under pressure due to Russia's wars in Eastern Europe and due to China's growing revisionism. This opens the question how NATO and the EU should respond to the growing security challenge coming from Moscow and Beijing.

Study Tour
The Russian war against Ukraine has caused European and German leaders to rethink their military posture and approach towards Russia. While transatlantic unity appears to be holding for the moment, the coming years will test that consensus and bring new societal, economic and energy pressures on European societies. In April 2023, we invited nine European transatlanticists to Washington, DC, to discuss European security in an era of multiple disruptive threats.
